CHM 4 Opened a New Door

As we carried on with the second community immersion we had dived a bit deeper into getting to know the people of Pasobolong. During the one-month stay, we have talked with a lot of people, worked with our barangay health workers, and looked into the different ways we can start implementing our Community Health Plans (CHP).

The journey from courtesy calls, creating letters, setting up venues, scheduling meetings and visiting places has been tiring and fulfilling at the same time. Just like our last immersion, we still did not know what to fully expect. There were still a lot of frustrations and disappointments as we progressed but we managed to move beyond that and use that to our advantage, it has somehow become our fuel to reach our goals for our community. As the famous adventure time character BMO said "When bad things happen, I know you want to believe they are a joke, but sometimes life is scary and dark. That is why we must find the light." And that light for us is seeing the faces of the people light up with hope as they recognize their rights to a healthy life, it is seeing the smiles of the children as we conduct our health education in schools, it is listening to the stories of the people and seeing their willingness to help and change for the better.

Truly we are far from our goals but with every CHP progress that we make, with each sleepless night that we spend proof-reading and revising our paper, we know this all goes to the greater good of Pasobolong.
